There is so much to see along the Causeway Coastline and it is not all about the Famous Giants Causeway Stones. If you walk far beyond the Causeway Stones there is some of the most stunning Coastlines and Cliffs in Ireland. An area rich in History, Geology and of Course Folklore there is no better place to go to for a hike and spend your day there. Grab your rucksack, a pack lunch and even your camera or phone and head out on an adventure!! You wont regret it.

The Giants Causeway was apparently formed about 50/60 million years ago during a volcanic eruption. Lava flowed and then cooled rapidly and this is what caused the shape and form of the Causeway Stones, in having their distinctive Hexagonal shape. It is always so fascinating walking around this area and looking at all the unique textures, shapes and colours within the area.

Away from the Causeway Stones you have stunning areas like Lacada Point, which was the area that the ship by the Spanish Armada sank... The La Girona in 1588 with the loss of so many lives. They think that out of 1300 people only 9 survived with so many washed up along the shorelines there. One of the most distinct things in this area is the formation of the rocks along the clifftops. There is a part that is known as the Chimney stacks and also the Devils finger. If you look closely to the image below you will see this along the Clifftops. What an amazing area!!

With there being so many stunning ares around the Causeway Cliffs Coastline it really is hard to have a favourite area along there. Though mines has to be the Hamiltons Seat area.(See Below) It is such an amazing walk to the area and taking your time it would take about maybe 50 minutes to an hour, especially if you stop and start like me taking in all the amazing views. Once you get there the views are just stunning and you can see right back along the Coastline to Lacada Point, that you have to walk past to get there. I think it is a bit special as well as not so many people go to that area as it is out of the way.
If you are at the Giants Causeway and you do have time, take the walk around the Hamiltons Seat. If you are really adventurous you can walk even further to Portmoon Bothy, Dunseverick Castle, and beyond. You can also walk from the other way as well, it really is up to you, just have fun be safe and enjoy our stunning Coastline.
Just bring plenty of water, coffee, food and just enjoy the day and moment. Being out in Nature is one of the best things for your mind and soul. Get out make memories and be present in the Moment!!
Take care and Enjoy.... Kevin
